Wedge selector tool app on mobile reads: What is the highest loft wedge you would like to play?

A lob wedge is used for short, high-arc shots that need to stop quickly, flop shots over bunkers and other hazards, short-sided chips, delicate pitches to tight pins, and approaches into firm greens. Because of its high loft, the lob wedge produces minimal roll, which makes it the go-to club when you need the ball to land softly.

There is no single best degree. The right loft depends on gapping and the greenside shots hit most. Most players carry either a 58° or 60° lob wedge, with 4°–6° of loft separation from their sand wedge for clean distance gaps inside 80 yards.

A sand wedge typically has 54°–56° of loft and is built primarily for greenside bunker shots and shorter approaches. A lob wedge has 58°–60° of loft, launches the ball higher, stops it faster, and is best suited to flop shots, short-sided chips, and any shot that needs maximum height with minimum roll.
